Russell is the owner and operator of ClimbAxe Mountaineering, with a deep rooted love of the outdoor environment a change in his career path gave him the opportunity to spend more time outdoors. After many years walking, hiking and climbing Russ came across Mountain Training UK and a small idea turned into an amazing adventure.
Working his way through the national awards and having one adventure to the next Russ now holds the Summer Mountain leader award and is a fully qualified RCI (Rock Climbing Instructor). He holds a Rescue Emergency care first aid qualification, MHFA, Travel and Expedition First Aid Qualified and has a current full DBS check. Presently he is also half way through his International Mountain Leader Award and is also a fully qualified IRATA Level 1 Rope Access Technician.
His travels have taken him leading expeditions in South America, Central Asia, North and South Africa leading groups from young students to adults, mountaineering in The Alps, Nepal and Atlas mountain ranges, trekking and climbing in Iceland, winter mountaineering in Scotland and sunny mountain days in the UK.
Russ has a real passion for the mountains and this shows through in his relaxed and informative approach, whether its a wild camp, expedition or a day at the crag he is always willing to share and pass on his knowledge and experience to help you enjoy the mountain environment…… its also been known for him to share the odd jelly baby or two.
When Russ is not working he spends his time with his family and their dog Ted, walking, trekking or snowshoeing…and sometimes even does the dishes.
